WHAT WE DO

MISSION
Work "with and through" communities to raise awareness on basic human rights, and promote gender equality in access to health as a public good. Work with people living in hard to reach and underserved populations through improved access to preventive health information and quality health services.
Use of asset building approaches to build communities human, social, physical and financial assets to become better managers of their own health.

VISION
Is to see Tanzania with empowered communities (girls and Boys, Men and Women) with full potentials to access health as a public commodity.

EAHP Tanzania is a National NGO mandated to operate in Tanzania mainland with the Head office in Mwanza Tanzania. Currently works in Mwanza region Northern Tanzania. And aiming for expansion to strengthen community health and health systems in other regions in the country.

EAHP Tanzania works to build community capacities to have access to health information and services as a means to increase their participation and engagement in development activities and hence poverty reduction in Tanzania.

BACKGROUND
Ms Edna Kingazi Matasha a Tanzanian State Registered Nurse Midwife-MPH started the idea as WAPENI nursing homes to offer Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health services and community referral support in Mwanza city since early ~999. Experience of running the facility has shown that people especially women are exposed to ill health due to the fact that they lack access to correct information about health prevention message and when they are informed they fail to make timely decision for treatment seeking due to gender inequalities imbalances in decision making especially amongst women and girls due to lack of control over resources and poverty.

The Directory of NGOs in Africa is a growing directory of (all) non-profit and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and emerging organisations in Africa. The listed information consists of the organisations contact information, its aims, current projects - activities, photo gallery, volunteering opportunities etc. Further, it features information that help donors have a peace of mind such as organisation registration number, a note to confirm organisations contactability, a link to an organisations financial auditor etc. The main aim of the directory (print and online) is to make information on NGOs in Africa readily available to businesses that want to be involved in Africa, donors, volunteers and ordinary people who want tomake a difference in Africa. We believe anyone and everyone can make a difference.
