WHAT WE DO

VISION
We aim to provide holistic care, addressing physical, emotional and educational needs for orphans and vulnerable children. As Zisize we also aim that all our children have the opportunities to reach their potential in life.

Zisize is a member of CASNET (Caring Schools Network) and works in partnership with nine primary schools in the three tribal areas of KwaMngomezulu, KwaMathenjwa and KwaNyawo in Ingwavuma Magisterial District. Each of these schools with input from Zisize, is a node of holistic support to Orphans and Vulnerable children in those communities.

The aim of the programme is to eliminate challenges, (e.g. hunger, lack of shelter or adult support or the effects of abuse) which prevent learners making optimal use of their educational opportunities.
Zisize also has begun to forge links with three high schools in these communities - Ohhoye, Nqobizazi and Ingwavuma High

BACKGROUND
Over the past fourteen years it has developed projects which focus on the whole child as well as maintaining its original aim to improve educational standards. Although a small charity (NPO) it is making big differences to the lives of orphans and vulnerable children and the schools they attend.

CURRENT PROJECTS

Projects include Early Childhood Development; literacy and numeracy training for teachers in 9 local schools; 2 libraries; feeding programmes; food parcels; gardening project; foster care; child protection; psychological testing and therapy; memory box work; sport programmes; life skills; radio project; health education and support.

We have recently introduced a bursary scheme to enable OVC who have been beneficiaries of Zisize to attend university. Our aim is that all our children have the opportunities to reach their potential in life.

The Directory of NGOs in Africa is a growing directory of (all) non-profit and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and emerging organisations in Africa. The listed information consists of the organisations contact information, its aims, current projects - activities, photo gallery, volunteering opportunities etc. Further, it features information that help donors have a peace of mind such as organisation registration number, a note to confirm organisations contactability, a link to an organisations financial auditor etc. The main aim of the directory (print and online) is to make information on NGOs in Africa readily available to businesses that want to be involved in Africa, donors, volunteers and ordinary people who want tomake a difference in Africa. We believe anyone and everyone can make a difference.
