WHAT WE DO

MISSION
A Spring of Hope is a non-governmental organization partnering with rural South African schools to bring them clean water sources and economic development opportunities.

VISION
We seek to combat severe poverty in rural South Africa. If rural schools have the appropriate resources to invest in their students, students can be better equipped for fulfilling employment and leadership in and out of the workplace.
A Spring of Hope intends to invest in the development of South Africas future leadership so that they can, in turn, address pressing problems in their communities and their countries.

A Spring of Hope searches for rural, underprivileged schools in South Africa in desperate need of water. These schools are often identified during the A Spring of Hope Teams trips to Africa or when people contact us who know of a school in need.

Our team looks at what kind of adversity students face and how the school could benefit from a well. Most often, at primary schools, many students suffer from malnutrition and a significant percentage of students are orphans. Schools also typically struggle financially. These are compelling reasons to drill a well.

BACKGROUND
In the Limpopo region of South Africa, where A Spring of Hope focuses most of our efforts, a staggering 83.3% of all children live in poverty.

To visit this region is to be profoundly affected by the abject neglect, as organization founders Joanne and Brittany Young discovered on their first trip to Africa in 2005.

The Directory of NGOs in Africa is a growing directory of (all) non-profit and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and emerging organisations in Africa. The listed information consists of the organisations contact information, its aims, current projects - activities, photo gallery, volunteering opportunities etc. Further, it features information that help donors have a peace of mind such as organisation registration number, a note to confirm organisations contactability, a link to an organisations financial auditor etc. The main aim of the directory (print and online) is to make information on NGOs in Africa readily available to businesses that want to be involved in Africa, donors, volunteers and ordinary people who want tomake a difference in Africa. We believe anyone and everyone can make a difference.
