WHAT WE DO

MISSION
To relieve suffering of disaster victims in emergencies and of poor communities in needy areas; through development and implementation of improved and protected water supply and environmental sanitation.

VISION
TWESA envisages communities free from water and sanitation related diseases and hardships.

Twesa has reached numerous communities and provided valuable support in the field of water and environmental sanitation. Vast strides have been made in educating the communities on these areas and even refugee camps have benefited from the services provided by TWESA. The team comprises a directorate on water sustainability, hygiene promoters, sanitation information teams, and water technicians.

TWESAs vision is achieved by actions such as constructing wells, rainwater harvesting tanks, water distribution from springs and other methods of water supply. TWESA also improves sanitation and hygiene through community education programs, school programs and construction of latrines. Communities that have benefited to date include villages in Kibondo District, Kankoko and Ngara Districts.

BACKGROUND
TWESA is a non-profit sharing and non-political NGO. It was registered under the societies ordinance (CAP 337 as an NGO on the 30th of June 1997. Establishment of TWESA was a result of perceived needs among Tanzanians with experience working in emergencies and through valuable support from Oxfam (GB Tanzania Office, to build local capacity to respond to emergencies and development needs in Tanzania

The Directory of NGOs in Africa is a growing directory of (all) non-profit and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and emerging organisations in Africa. The listed information consists of the organisations contact information, its aims, current projects - activities, photo gallery, volunteering opportunities etc. Further, it features information that help donors have a peace of mind such as organisation registration number, a note to confirm organisations contactability, a link to an organisations financial auditor etc. The main aim of the directory (print and online) is to make information on NGOs in Africa readily available to businesses that want to be involved in Africa, donors, volunteers and ordinary people who want tomake a difference in Africa. We believe anyone and everyone can make a difference.
