WHAT WE DO

MISSION
To empower people, especially disadvantaged individuals, families and children, to lead productive and fulfilling lives. This is done by providing counselling services and training in counselling skills and by implementing projects that promote child protection

CONTACT is bound by the following goals:
1. Improvement of the functioning, mental health and coping mechanisms of individuals and families, by increasing awareness on how the family functions as a system.
2. Minimizing the emotional, physical and social effects of child sexual abuse for children and their families
3. Empowerment of women by supporting them in claiming their rights and improving their economic situation.
4. Increasing the community awareness of social problems and issues such as childrens rights and needs, satisfying family relationships and how to deal with stress.
5. Reduction of HIV infections by identifying risky behaviour and by working with individuals and couples in adopting alternative safe behaviour

Counselling is done by professional counsellors at CONTACTs premises and in several satellite centres located at the Bulawayo City Council Health Clinics and at Mpilo Central Hospital.
CONTACT implements a project that works with sexually abused children, their families and relevant authorities in a holistic manner to foster child protection.

CONTACT also offers training in counselling to a wide range of professionals representing various sectors, such as health, social services, police, teachers and community workers.
A one-year Certificate Course in Systemic Counselling (CSC) has been proved popular over the years and approximately 400 people have been trained so far.

The Directory of NGOs in Africa is a growing directory of (all) non-profit and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and emerging organisations in Africa. The listed information consists of the organisations contact information, its aims, current projects - activities, photo gallery, volunteering opportunities etc. Further, it features information that help donors have a peace of mind such as organisation registration number, a note to confirm organisations contactability, a link to an organisations financial auditor etc. The main aim of the directory (print and online) is to make information on NGOs in Africa readily available to businesses that want to be involved in Africa, donors, volunteers and ordinary people who want tomake a difference in Africa. We believe anyone and everyone can make a difference.
